Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018

Some interesting, less-often-seen cards contribute here, with a pleasing pre-rookie card of Jacques Plante, picturing him in a Montreal Royals uniform, leading the way. A small, light and very subtle crease renders the St. Lawrence Sales issue VG+, with however “Recolored” appearing on the PSA label affixed to a returned semi-rigid holder. A similar-size card on sturdy cardboard stock pictures Rangers’ goalie Dave Kerr and looks to have been cut from some type of box – intriguing. Also scarce are Topps “proof” cards, with Darryl Sittler featured on six and Borje Salming on two. They’re encased, sealed with a “Topps Vault” sticker and accompanied by four COAs, which refer to the four “sets” of two cards each. Conventional cards present include off-centered Mike Bossy and Paul Coffey rookie cards, with the former otherwise EX+ and the latter o/w VG. There’s an EX-MT Mario Lemieux third-year OPC card and two dozen autographed cards among the rest. Notables include three signed Mike Gartner examples and two of Wendel Clark, (including an EX ’86-87 OPC rookie), along with a Hall of Fame card autographed by the late great Johnny Bower. Other miscellaneous items complete and include box bottom and magazine/oddball cards, as well as a few Upper Deck, Bowman and other promo/commemorative sheets.
