Ron Zanussi scored 14 goals and had career highs with 31 assists and 45 points for the Minnesota North Stars in 1979-80. Zanussi added four assists in 14 playoff games in his third season in Minnesota as the North Stars swept Toronto three straight in the preliminary round and then eliminated the four-time reigning Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens in the quarter-finals before losing the semi-final to Philadelphia. Zanussi’s 1979-80 North Stars game-worn mesh jersey with a canvas fight strap loop has about 16 team repairs. The nameplate was removed and the “9” year flag tag is barely hanging on in the back of the neck below the Steichens and washing instructions tagging.
There are 10 team repairs on the left sleeve, five more on the right sleeve and a chevron-shaped sewing fix on the left shoulder. More game wear includes sweat stains on the white twill of the white and gold double-twill number 9 sewn on the back and on the white twill of the “N” of the white and gold double twill team crest sewn on the front, board burns with red paint transfer on the right rear tail, the white mesh stripe panel on the back of the left sleeve, and on the back of the right shoulder yoke, and black marks on the North Stars crest on the front and on the front tail. Included with the jersey are two 8x10 photos of Zanussi with the North Stars.
