Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
The rookie cards of a scoring machine, three popular Hall of Famers and a national hero highlight Topps' 1965-66 hockey card effort, with this set dominated by EX and EX+ cards, to go along with some EX-MTs or better and some lesser lights. Phil Esposito's key RC is EX, similar to those of goaltending greats Gerry Cheevers and Ed Giacomin, while that of speedster Yvan Cournoyer is housed in a KSA holder labelled NM 7. Paul Henderson's rookie is VG-EX, with RCs of Hodge and Ellis (VG+) and Dennis Hull (EX+) also noteworthy. So is Gordie Howe's 600 Goals card at EX, similar to Hull, with Gordie's regular card VG-EX. Three of the important team cards (Leafs, Canadiens, Rangers) make it to EX-MT, with the Bruins at EX+ and the other two EX. Checklists are unmarked and crease-free, with #121 NM (OC) and #66 VG-EX+. At VG is 1-Toe Blake but all-in-all, not many creases throughout this colorful booty which conservatively averages EX.
