Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

While not quite the equivalent of the gridiron rivalry between the Ivy League pair, nonetheless, Harvard and Yale have been regularly battling on ice since 1900. This program originates from the spring of 1921 and was issued for a Harvard and Yale contest, with the former handily defeating the latter 7-0. A single-page fold-over example, the 6 ¼” x 9 ¼” (when folded) program originates from the Philadelphia Ice Palace, as Yale played their home games in the building due to the lack of a suitable on-campus venue. Generic skating imagery graces the cover, with the newly constructed building exhibiting the full seating on the interior pages. A pair of single page inserts are also included, with one featuring an upcoming skating carnival, while the other advertises a St. Valentine’s night “fancy dress carnival”. The program display well, but suffers from a number of issues including toning, creasing and light staining. There are also a few edge tears present.
