Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
These game-used skates belonged to the most exciting hockey player of the 1970s. Guy Lafleur's original black marker autograph appears twice on this pair of well-worn and photo-matched beauties he used late in his career, when he returned to the NHL after an early retirement that lasted well over three full seasons. Already a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame when he made his comeback with the New York Rangers in 1988-89, Lafleur returned to Quebec City - the scene of his great junior hockey success - to play his final two seasons with the Nordiques. Bauer models sporting heavy game-use, The Flower has added his #10 to his signature on the outer edge of each blade holder, with all of the original identifiers to the boots blacked-out, with heavy additional wear to the worn blades.
Getty Image #103040505 (November 1989) has been matched to the pair of dark black marks on the front exterior of the right skate’s blade holder, and to the dark black mark on the back interior of the left skate’s blade holder. Additional black marks on the front interior of the left skate’s blade holder also match.
