Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
The oldest professional sports team in North America still using their original name, the Toronto Argonauts were founded in 1873, when rugby-style football still dominated in the Dominion. This Argonauts jersey was game-worn in the mid-to-late-1960s, and it’s been attributed to Mike Wicklum. With no tagging present, the V-neck jersey features tackle twill numbers on the front, sleeves and verso, along with dual-colour striping bands at the top of each sleeve. In excellent condition, the stripes located near the shoulders as opposed to the bottom of the sleeves date the jersey to the mid-to-late-1960s. A 1967 Argonauts program listing Wicklum as wearing #10 will accompany the jersey.
Jersey measures 21 3/4" from the lower portion of the v-neck to the bottom front of the jersey and 26 3/4" from the middle of the collar on the back to the bottom of the jersey.
