Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Extremely popular throughout the mid-20th century, card vending machines allowed contemporary youth to purchase and collect everything from postcards of glamorous Hollywood starlets, to hockey cards of their favourite stars. This circa-1960 Oaks hobby vendor is evident of that, as countless nickels were surely fed into its inviting coin slots. At 13 ½” x 7 x 23 ½”, the steel-constructed vendor features four evenly spaced slots where you would receive 6 cards for 5 cents. In working order including 2 keys, there might have been a coin drawer originally, but the space is void of one currently. In very good condition, a decal from the Quebec Vending Machine Co remains affixed to the top portion, with the 12” x 18” front advertising card a modern replacement.
