Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020

Decisively defeating one of the greatest US squads ever to appear at the Winter Olympics, Team Canada would win the gold medal match at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games 5-2, with this the nation’s first of three gold medals won over four Olympiads. Serving as backup at the tournament, Ed Belfour wore this team-signed Team Canada jersey in practices and/or in the games where he dressed as back-up goalie. We should also note that we believe the jersey was worn in the post gold medal game celebrations and during the official on-ice winner's team photo. All 24 gold medal winners have signed across the front in black marker, including Belfour, as well as fellow Hall of Fame members Gretzky, Yzerman, Lemieux, Sakic, Lindros, Brodeur and others. A signed LOA from Ed Belfour will accompany this desirable team-signed 2002 Team Canada Olympic jersey.
IIHF and Nike labels with “58G” sizing are affixed to the collar, with an IIHF patch over the reverse bottom hem. Styled with the familiar Hockey Canada team crest that first saw use in 1995, the solid white garment has been accented with red tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers with black trim, with matching alternate patches over each shoulder. There is also a Nike bar code over the inside hem near a small "09 01 02" date sticker. The additional signers include Iginla, Kariya, Gagne, Blake, Nolan, Jovanovski, Brewer, Nieuwendyk, Niedermayer, Peca, Fleury, Foote, Smyth, Pronger, Joseph and Al MacInnis. The signatures all display beautifully with no issues. The jersey exhibits light wear with a couple puck marks over the lower right sleeve, with small stains in spots that appear to be from champagne during the post gold medal game celebrations.
