Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020

The second overall selection behind Patrick Kane at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, James van Riemsdyk spent his first three NHL seasons with Philadelphia before being traded to Toronto, in June of 2012. This Leafs jersey was worn by the New Jersey native in 2016-17. A label with “56” sizing resides over the inner collar, with NHL and Reebok crests over the front and reverse necklines respectively. Featuring a vintage style Leafs team crest with “Toronto Maple Leafs” embroidered, “25” appears over the sleeves and verso in oversized single navy twill, with “van Riemsdyk” across the affixed nameplate in matching material. The jersey also sports the NHL centennial crest over the right sleeve, with a price tag from the team store affixed to the laundering tag. “3” has also been handwritten over the fight strap to denote third set. Exhibiting light wear with a few random marks visible including over the left sleeve, there is also a single team repair near the right elbow. Getty Image #652261764 (March 2017) appears to show the uneven lower right seam, with the blue band visibly higher, while Getty Image #664239468 (April 3, 2017) appears to show the black mark over the lower front seam, but neither image is clear enough to call a definitive photo-match. The team patch numbered “G0167” is situated over the inside hem, with a matching COA to accompany from the Leafs.
