Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Original images of prominent hockey clubs are always sought, with those featuring provenance from the personal collections of individuals from those teams highly desirable, especially when considering the status of the player. This lot offers a trio of highly desirable Montreal Canadiens team photos, with the best possible provenance, as each and every image hails from the personal collection of HOF superstar Henri Richard. All black and white photos produced by David Bier, included, we have examples for the Stanley Cup championship seasons of 1958-59 and 1972-73, along with a photo of the 1961-62 Habs. Richard is pictured in all three, with “David Bier” over each bottom right corner, with the photographer’s business card attached to the 1961-62 photo by way of paper clip (removable). An LOA from the Richard family will accompany these wonderful images.
All thinner card stock images that exhibit toning, the 1958-59 photo is 9 ¾” x 13 ¾”, with heavy creasing over the bottom left along with a large edge tear, with a Bier stamp over the reverse. The 1961-62 photo is approx 11” x 14”, with creasing and edge tears along the bottom border, with a Bier stamp on the reverse and indentations from the attached paper clip. Lastly, the 1972-73 photo is approx 9 ½” x 14”, with just a few minor surface lines and wrinkles, with some surface chipping visible along the bottom left border.
