Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
The especially solid backstop to the Bruins early-1970s Cup wins, Gerry Cheevers will forever be remembered not only for his clutch play, but also for his famous “stitches” mask. We have a signed stick used by the St Catharines native in the mid-to-late-1970s, after making his return to Boston after four seasons in the WHA with Cleveland. A Northland Registered Pattern Number model (0605), the stick features “Cheevers” stamped onto the upper shaft, with the original tape over the blade, top of the paddle and knob still in place. Additional tape has been added just above the heel section, possibly to reinforce a crack, with Cheevers signing on the topside of the shaft, adding a personalization. Nice use is exhibited, with wear to the taped section of blade, along with a few marks and abrasions to the paddle.
