Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Especially noteworthy as both the first player in history to win six Stanley Cup titles as well as the first player to win the Stanley Cup with four different clubs, John “Jack” Marshall first lifted Lord Stanley’s hardware with the Victoria Hockey Club of Winnipeg, in 1902. Additional championships would follow with the Montreal winged-wheelers, Wanderers and Toronto Blueshirts. Originating from the incomparable autograph collection of E. Robert Hamlyn, we have a handwritten letter signed by the 1965 HOF inductee. At approx 5” x 8” (folded), the single-page fold-over letter has Marshall furnishing the addresses of fellow HOFers Pud Glass, Moose Johnson and Lester Patrick. Signed “JK Marshall”, the black ink signature remains dark. Marshall would leave us in his 88th year, in 1965. This is only the third Jack Marshall signed letter we have offered in over 25 years.
The letter itself remains in excellent condition sporting toning along with a blemish over the left border, with no issues for the text or signature. There is also a pair of punched holes along the left side for binder insertion, with no text affected.
