Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Injured in the semi-final round and relegated to watching the final on TV, Claude Lemieux brought his no-holes-barred style of physical play to the 1987 Canada Cup, with the tournament noteworthy for the 12 future HOFers that would all don Team Canada sweaters. We have a Canada Cup trophy from the historic tournament, with this example both presented to, and directly obtained from Lemieux. At 12” in height, the silver half maple leaf is identical in style to the Team Canada team crests, with this trophy sporting a wider base that thins from bottom to top, with green felt affixed to the underside. Just a single point has been worn down, with some general surface wear present along with some very minor bubbling on both the side and reverse. A signed LOA from Claude Lemieux will accompany.
It should also be noted that a bit of glue residue remains over the bottom right side, with a previously mounted small plaque a possibility.
