Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Featuring prominent maker Spalding, we have three different desirable one-piece sticks with paper labels hailing from the teens and early-1920s. The first example originates from the mid-teens, with most of the label gone. From handling other examples in the past, we know that endorsements from the Montreal Canadiens (still visible), Victoria and Quebec Bulldogs were once part of the paper label. The second example is a No. 0 “Championship” model that also hails from the teens, with 75% of the label intact, while the last specimen rounding out the lot is a No. 2 stick that originates from the 1920s, with “Spalding” stamped onto the blade along with most of the label intact.
All three adult-sized sticks display beautifully, with no unsightly tape on either the blades or shafts, with each exhibiting varying degrees of use. The 1920s example with a mostly intact label has a blade that was previously split for a few inches from the toe section, but this has been rectified with glue.
