Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
A second round selection by the New York Islanders at the 1974 NHL Entry Draft, Bryan Trottier was instrumental in helping lead New York to their Stanley Cup dynasty, spending 15 full seasons on Long Island. The Val Marie native and 1997 HOF inductee can also claim the Hart Memorial, Art Ross and Conn Smythe trophies, along with nine NHL All-Star Game appearances. Hailing from his only 50-goal season – one that also witnessed his second highest career points total of 129 – we have a New York Islanders jersey that was worn by Trottier during the 1981-82 campaign, and it’s been photo-matched. A pair of SK labels grace the collar including one listing the garment as “Extra Large”, with a rubberized Sandow crest over the reverse bottom hem. Measuring-out to roughly a size “56”, the heavy-knit mesh has been styled with the iconic Long Island team crest in tri-colour tackle twill, accented with white tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers with orange trim, with “B Trottier” across the nameplate in matching material. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
Wonderfully hammered with use, a number of marks and burns are present, with slits over the lower front band and near the right elbow. There is also paint transfer in a few spots including over the lower reverse white striping band, with loose threading and light fraying visible in a number of locations. An included DVD with 20 photos from a match against Boston in 1981-82 serves as the photo-matches, with one photo matched to the cut on the lower front hem. Three photos have been matched to the washed-out black mark on the "1" of "19" on the left sleeve, and three more photos have been matched to the heavily washed-out diagonal mark starting between the "N" and the "Y" of "NY" and going down through the middle of the team's crest.
