Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Bryan Trottier would register noteworthy numbers during the 1978-79 NHL season, scoring a career-high 134 points while also earning both the Art Ross and Hart Memorial Trophies. The New York Islanders would also finish at the top of their Conference in just their seventh NHL season. Awarded for New York’s status as Campbell Conference regular season champions, we have Trottier’s Clarence Campbell championship trophy. At 11” in height, the silver-plated handled cup with removable lid and chased detailing sits atop a hexagon-shaped 3-inch wooden base and is engraved “New York Islanders – 1978-79 – Bryan Trottier” on one side, with the name of the trophy and "1966" on the other. We should note that this was a mistake and should be “1968” for the year of the trophy’s inception, with each example we’ve handled from 1978-79 having the “1966” error. Originating from Trottier’s personal collection, an LOA from the family will accompany.
There are small areas of wear and surface loss including along the rim and lid, with a large dark blemish to the interior of the lid and wear to the interior of the bowl. There is also a small blemish to the wooden base, a chip to the metal along the very bottom and a very slight surface bump to the left of the engraved “New York Islanders – 1978-79 – Bryan Trottier” text, with this appearing to be a production flaw and very minor in appearance.
