An especially lengthy career occurring entirely in Motown, Alex Delvecchio spent parts of 24 seasons with the Red Wings, appearing in a remarkable 13 NHL All-Star games. We have a stick used by the three-time Stanley Cup champion in 1959-60, team-signed by the Detroit Red Wings. A Northland Pro model, “Delvecchio” appears stamped-on, with “10” handwritten. Stamps from team supplier Olympic Sporting Goods grace each side, with the original black tape in place over the handle and blade. Approx 23 signatures have been placed across the backside of the shaft in green ballpoint including Delvecchio and deceased HOfers Sawchuk, Howe, Pronovost and Sid Abel, along with Ullman, Reaume, Cullen, Oliver and others.
The stick exhibits good use, with a number of large marks over the lower shaft and blade, with the tape just slightly torn along the top section of the blade. The striping accents also remain intact. Additional signers include Aldcorn, Morrison, Lunde, Melnyk, McKenzie, McIntyre, Fonteyne, Smith, Haley, Haddon and others. The signatures all display well with just very light fading, with the Sawchuk example fairly bold with no issues.
