Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

The Toronto Maple Leafs franchise record holder for penalty minutes, with just two players in history recording more, Tie Domi made his NHL debut for the blue and white in 1989-90, and after seasons with the New York Rangers and Winnipeg Jets, returned to the club in 1994-95. From the fourth season of his second stint in Ontario, we have a photo-matched Leafs jersey worn by Domi in 1997-98 – a season that witnessed a career-high 365 penalty minutes! Nike and Center Ice labels with “54” sizing are affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and Nike crests over the reverse bottom hem. Styled with the club’s familiar Leafs team crest with embroidered detailing, “28” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with matching vintage-style alternate crests over each shoulder. The jersey also features custom-shortened sleeves. The team patch is affixed to the inside hem, with the fight strap reinforced.
Sporting material pulls over the front along with a few random dark marks visible, there are also burns over the right sleeve and shoulder with a resulting hole near the elbow. Threading was also added to reinforce the front and reverse collar. Getty Image #304907 (March 26, 1998) has been matched to the washed-out black mark on the left side hem in the white striping, and to the grouping of three washed-out black marks in the upper white stripe on the right sleeve.
