Hall of Fame left winger Luc Robitaille became the 27th player in NHL history to reach the 500-goal plateau in 1998-99 with the Los Angeles Kings. Offered here from Robitaille’s personal collection is his 500th goal puck! On January 7, 1999 Robitaille scored on Buffalo’s Dwayne Roloson in the Kings’ 4-2 win over the Sabres at the Great Western Forum to reach the milestone in his 928th regular season game. He became the fifth left winger to accomplish the feat, following Bobby Hull, Frank Mahovlich, Johnny Bucyk and Michel Goulet. This historic 500th goal puck is the appropriate type of NHL official game puck used at Kings home games during the 1998-99 season. “Robitaille” and “500” stickers remain on the bottom of the face of this goal puck where they were applied by the Kings to commemorate the milestone. Luc Robitaille’s signed letter of authenticity will accompany this historic collector’s item.
Additional puck details include “G-20 A-55-4”, written in black marker on the orange ring on the reverse, done to signify that the goal was scored by number 20, Robitaille, and assisted by Pavel Rosa (No. 55) and Rob Blake (No. 4). This unique 500th goal puck exhibits really nice wear with a nicked edge, chipped paint, scuffs and various marks testifying to its game use.
