Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Selected in the WHA and NHL drafts of 1977, Jim Hamilton spent four seasons in the OHA with London before making his NHL debut with Pittsburgh in 1977-78. The Barrie native would see action in parts of eight seasons with the club, including 20 regular season games in 1980-81 and 11 in 1981-82. Hailing from the early-1980s, circa 1981-82 and possibly from the latter half of the 1980-81 NHL season, we have a Penguins jersey worn by Hamilton. With no labeling present, the vintage jersey measures-out to roughly a size 50, with a screened Sandow SK logo over the reverse hem. Styled with a rubberized Pens team crest, “28” appears over the sleeves and verso in matching material, with “Hamilton” across the affixed nameplate in layered tackle twill. We should note that the nameplate appears original to the jersey and has been loosely re-attached. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
The jersey exhibits light to moderate use, with burns over each sleeve and wear to the team crest including a few minor cracks. There are also small repairs over the lower band.
