Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016

Jacques Villeneuve and the Williams F-1 team had large expectation going into the 1998 Formula 1 Championship as Jacques was defending his 1997 Championship. The team struggled with a new car and new engine supplier and Jacques managed only 2 podiums and a 5th place finish in the World Championship.
This Bell dominator helmet, painted by Bell SPORTS Europe and tagged 98.3 was used early in the 1998 season as the 3 dictates it was the third helmet painted in 1998 livery. The helmet shows very nice wear inside and out and remains in full tobacco livery and the visor, which has a tear-off remaining, is signed by Jacques. There are a number of small chips in the paint and as per all of Jacques helmets the front and top vents have been covered with heli-tape to reduce airflow into the helmet. The drink tube has been drilled and is also covered with heli-tape and the complete race radio remains intact. Also included is the original Bell carrying bag with “J.V. 98-3” handwritten annotations. This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
