Playing his junior hockey with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WCHL, Glen Hanlon would be drafted by both the NHL's Vancouver Canucks and WHA's Houston Aeros in 1977 with the route of the National Hockey League being Hanlon's chosen one following the pair of selections. Going on to play in 476 National Hockey League games over the course of his career, wearing the colours of the Canucks as well as St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings, offered here is this photo-matched Vancouver jersey worn by Hanlon during his rookie season of 1978-79 when he played in thirty-one (31) games. A mostly mesh construction garment made by Goodman & Sons of Los Angeles, the brand's label that displays a size "48" designation is sewn inside the front hem along wide an additional label for distributor Bill Vanderburg. A gold coloured offering with the back and red stripes forming a "V" for Vancouver coming down the front from the shoulders, additional stripes are present in the sleeves while Canucks "Flying Skate" logo patches that feature heavily embroidered details throughout have been added over the upper portion of both sleeves. Having had Hanlon's number "1" sewn on in single layer black tackle twill numerals to the ends of each cuff as well as the reverse, "Hanlon" is spelt out in single layer orange twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Void of any fight strap on the interior, game-wear is observed through puck marks on the front, both sleeves, left shoulder and reverse hem while pilling from rubbing against Hanlon's goalie gloves and tape removal is seen over both cuffs as well, along with pilling. Displaying beautifully overall despite being from one of the most questionable design choice uniforms in the history of the National Hockey League, the desirable garment has been photo-matched to an image of Hanlon that appears on the cover of Vancouver's February 19th, 1980 game program that clearly shows the black mark on the front of the right sleeve that appears to the right of the black twill number "1" sewn on above the cuff, with a copy of this program being included with the lot.
