Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
From the final historic game at Maple Leafs Gardens that closed out an important chapter of Toronto hockey, we have the very stick used by HOF superstar Doug Gilmour to score the final goal at the noteworthy shrine. Occurring on Feb 13th 1999, Gilmour’s goal was the third in the contest, with the Leafs unable to take the final victory, defeated by Chicago, 6-2. Set into a 30” x 72” sub-frame (foam board and masonite with no outer frame) with other final-game goodies, the stick is a Hespeler CS Pro model with “Killer” factory graphics over the upper shaft along with “Killer” repeated, stamped over the inserted wooden blade. The original tape is in place over the handle and blade, with a tear to the blade tape along the underside. The other items include a signed last MLG game program, a pair of signed photos, souvenir pucks and more. The large sub-frame can be sent as is, or the items can be removed and shipped individually if the winning bidder so desires. A signed LOA from Doug Gilmour will accompany.
The stick shows light use, with wear to the taped section of blade. The program has been signed by Mats Sundin, Tie Domi and Curtis Joseph and exhibits handling wear, with a rip along the top, while the two inserted photos are both signed, with the center photo signed by Mats Sundin and Bob Probert, while the faceoff photo has been signed by Doug Gilmour and Mats Sundin. With no issues for the signatures, there are also a few souvenir pucks and pins, with a centered plaque listing the particulars, along with a mounted MLG postcard.
