Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017

Named captain of the Canadiens in 1975 following the retirement of Henri Richard, Yvan Cournoyer was also awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1973 for his performance as the most valuable player during the playoffs. We have a game-used and signed stick from the HOFer. Fittingly, a Canadien model with graphics in Habs colours, “12 Cournoyer” appears stamped-on, with a date code of "160475" nearby. Featuring a shaved handle along with an especially large curve, the stick retains its tape on the handle and blade, with nice use exhibited including wear to the taped section of blade along with a few marks to the lower shaft. Yvan has signed across the front side of the shaft in ballpoint, and the signature displays well.
