Featuring the men that spend their time between the pipes, we have a neat collection of vintage individual images of goaltenders that totals 9. Ranging from roughly the late teens to late-1930s, we have a pair of media photos featuring John Ross Roach, with images of the netminder in both his NY Rangers uniform along with the Detroit Olympics, followed by photos of Lorne Chabot during his time in Manhattan, Normie Smith (signed) while he was with the Red Wings and a common media photo of Frank Brimsek. This is followed by a media photo of U of California goaltender Jack Belden, along with 3 generic images including a small 2 ¼” x 3 ¼” image of a netminder from the late teens.
The breakdown for each of the offered 8 images is as follows. 1) 1937 John Roach media photo. At 7” x 9” with media notations on the reverse, the image features Roach during his time with the Detroit Olympics in 1934-35, with general wear and toning including creasing. 2) 1931 John Roach media photo. At 6” x 8” with media notations on the reverse, the image features Roach during his time with the NY Rangers, with general wear and toning including creasing. 3) 1920s Lorne Chabot photo. At 8” x 10”, Chabot is pictured during his time with the Rangers, with “Lorne Chabot” handwritten along both the front and reverse. Heavy toning is present along with some minor creasing, with 3 holes along the left side from prior binder insertion. This photo may actually be a slightly later image than the 1920s. 4) 1930s Normie Smith autographed photo. Smith is pictured in his Red Wings jersey, with a label adhered to the center. The reverse has been identified in pencil, with Smith signing along the bottom right in black ink, and the signature displays well. Heavy toning is present to both the front and reverse, with a clipped corner and moderate creasing. 5) 1929 Jack Belden media photo. Media notations are present on the reverse, with a large vertical crease that runs through the print from top to bottom just to the right of center. 6) 1938 Frank Brimsek media photo. At roughly 6” x 8”, media notations are on the reverse along with a detached and torn caption, with some minor creasing to the photo. 7-9) Three generic goaltender images. Ranging from roughly 2 ¼” x 3 ¼” to 5” x 7”, each image features an early goaltender, with one photo having media notations along with “Dartmouth hockey” handwritten.
