Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Originally obtained by a RedTop Parking employee at Chicago Stadium and gifted to his daughter our consignor, we have a highly desirable “Banana hook” stick that was used by HOF superstar Stan Mikita during the mid-to-late-1960s. A Northland Custom Pro Glass Fused model with heavily-curved “banana-style” blade, “Mikita” and “21” appear over the upper shaft, along with stamps on either side from team supplier Gunzo’s. The original black tape over the blade and white-over-black “beehive-style” over the handle/knob remains, with parts of the striping decals intact. The stick experienced moderate/heavy use, with considerable wear to the handle tape along with additional wear to the blade including along the underside.
We should also note some red paint transfer in spots with a 7” long section of wood missing from an edge along the upper shaft. There is also a very fine age crack along the underside of the shaft, with this mentioned strictly for accuracy, as it in no way affects either the integrity or display value of the stick.
