Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
A rare opportunity, Classic Auctions is pleased to announce yet another partnership with the historic Montreal Canadiens franchise, one that will bring to auction a large and impressive bounty of jerseys fresh from the vast and seldom offered holdings of the storied hockey club. Examples are present from 2006-07 to 2014-15, with both important game-issued and game-worn jerseys offered, with a direct line from the actual player and the Canadiens franchise – to you, our loyal bidders. Each desirable jersey has inventory numbers from the Canadiens, with each to be accompanied by a letter of authenticity on Canadiens letterhead.
With lengthy time spent in the AHL with Hamilton, netminder Robert Mayer has also appeared in both the Swiss-A and Swiss-B leagues. We have a 2008-09 Montreal Canadiens away jersey that was issued to the Czech. “Goalie Style” labeling with “58” size tag and handwritten “1” appears along the collar, with embroidered NHL and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. Styled with the famous and sacred CH team crest, the white V-neck has been accented with tri-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with “Mayer” across the nameplate in single blue twill along with the Canadiens “100 seasons” crest over the right shoulder, and All-Star Game patch over the left. Issued but never worn, the jersey remains in wonderful condition. The team patch numbered “A02972” sits on the inside hem, while a hologram (GU11553) affixed to the reverse “5” matches the accompanying LOA from the Canadiens.
