An instant collection for those enamored by “the funny pages”, we have a wonderful group of Silver Age (1956-1970) non-superhero comic books totaling approx. 468, with numerous titles from a number of publishers present and accounted for including DC, Dell, Gold Key, Charlton and others. Dominated by examples from Dell with 167 copies present, there are also books from Gold Key (50), DC (19), Charlton (26) and a mix of others (22), with an additional roughly 184 French language comics that appear to mostly originate from Belgium. Highlights from Dell include Dracula, Frankenstein 1 and Space Man 2 and 4, with mid-to-high-grade copies of Davy Crockett, Space Family Robinson 1, Buck Rogers 1 and The Phantom 1, 3, 4 and 5 from Gold Key. The majority of the comics in the collection range in mid-grade or slightly lower, with a few high grade examples along with a number of fillers.
Regarding the included titles, from Dell we have Konas, Porky Pig, Maverick, Tom & Jerry, Popeye, Rin Tin Tin, Gene Autry, Gunsmoke, Bugs Bunny, Tarzan, Turok, Tonto, Jungle Jim, Fury, Lassie, Little LuLu, The Lone Ranger, Hi-Yo Silver, Sea Hunt, Roy Rogers, Combat and others, with Disney/Dell examples for Bambi, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Treasure Island, Zorro and more. From DC there’s Sea Devils, G.I. Combat, Our Men at War, Tales of the Unexpected and Strange Adventures, while Charlton titles among others include Blue Beetle, Attack!, Billy the Kid, Atomic Mouse, Konga, Black Fury, Space War and Cheyenne Kid. Next, titles from Gold Key include Turok, The Munsters, Korak, Tarzan, Three Stooges, Lassie and The Man from U.N.C.L.E, with other titles including Adventure’s of Mighty Mouse (Pines), G.I. in Battle (Ajax), Blackhawk (Quality), Dennis the Menace (Fawcett), Mutt & Jeff (Harvey), Hot Stuff (Harvey) and Navy Combat (Atlas). Lastly, titles from the French language comics include Meteor, Mystic, Ouragan, Banko, Cosmos, Dynamic, Audax, Hardy, Ardan and Aigle Noir, along with the familiar Rin Tin Tin, Roy Rogers and Tom & Jerry.
