Jacques Villeneuve is very particular about his helmets and this particular one is no exception. This Bell K1 helmet, painted by Bell SPORTS Europe and tagged 2001-02 was used during the 2001 Malaysian GP weekend, March 15-17 at the Sepang International Circuit and has more customization's then some drivers might have in and entire year. Jacques added extra foam around the eye port, common to most of his helmets, he has also taped down some of the eye-port foam to allow air out but reduce air in. He has also customized the visor by adding a hard foam sun visor to the top edge of the shield which has a few tear-offs which are still attached to the visor which is signed by Villeneuve who also signed the chin strap. He also applied silver reflective tape to the top of the helmet; we have seen this on other helmets used during race weekends where the temperature and humidity are very high like in Malaysia where it can be more then 50C inside the car. The most unique feature of this helmet is the interior. Bell has added a custom helmet cooling system that saw either cold air or cold liquid pumped through tubes running inside the top on the helmet. This has never before been seen on any race-worn helmets. The helmet shows nice use inside and out, the full race radio remains attached as well the accessories for the cooling system remain inside the helmet. Bell technicians have also added a small Malaysian flag decal to the back of the helmet to signify the race weekend the helmet was used it. Also included is the original Bell carrying bag with “J.V. 01-02” handwritten annotations. This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
