Brilliant blue melton wool coat worn by Team USA coach Bob Johnson, issued and worn probably for the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria and onwards. Bob led the coaching staff of the Colorado Springs-based U.S. National Hockey Team Program at the 1976 Games, and coached the 1981, 1984 and 1987 U.S. teams in the Canada Cup as well. In addition he coached the 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1981 U.S. squads with appearances at the World Championships. The jacket, in blue wool with red/white/blue trim at the collar, cuffs and waistband, is tagged in the pocket by "Fitzgerland Athletics of St. Cloud, MINN" and features a size 44 fly tag. Best is the three-color tackle twill identifier at the left breast with a cascading "USA" crossing a hockey stick design.
Classic seventies styling with this fuzzy brushed melton material. Preserved in excellent and wearable condition. Obtained in an estate sale of personal items that had been saved by Bob Johnson and will come with a letter of provenance.
