Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017

One of the most important and desirable rookie cards of the modern era, that picturing Bobby Orr, the teenager from Parry Sound, Ontario who would redefine how his position was played in the NHL, is joined here by the rest of Topps' 1966-67 card set, with an original wrapper a marvelous complement. Something a little bit different this time, with the Orr rookie in a semi-rigid holder following a Beckett Raw Card Review, with "5.0" written on the tamper-proof silver seal. White touches at the four corners and another in the middle of the upper edge are apparent, with not perfect but good centering an attribute. VG-EX or VG-EX+ this card would be in the eyes of some. We see 80 other cards similar, that is to say, with corner wear visible at first glance but with no creases detected, including Sinden RC, Hall, F. Mahovlich, Keon, Horton, P. Mahovlich RC, Hull, Canadiens Team and Mikita AS. Visibly superior with only light wear and easily EX, with some EX+ and a few EX-MT are 35 cards, notables being Richard, Shack, Gilbert, Cournoyer and Beliveau. In between the two aforementioned groups (EX or very close to it) are cards of Sawchuk, Giacomin, Mikita, Esposito, Howe, Hall AS, Beliveau AS and 132-Rousseau AS. Condition details of others, including the two unmarked checklists and the wrapper, are on our website.
Checklist #66 is crease-free, well-centered and EX+, while checklist #120 is VG, with a light crease and corner/edge wear. Creases affect four other VG cards; 81-Ellis, 119-Red Wings Team, 121-Howe AS and 125-Hull AS, with 79-Kelly better at VG+ and 64-Hull Scoring Leader F-G with multiple light creases. Finally, the riveting, thought-provoking 5-cent wrapper has survived in rip-free shape, with standard fold lines and some light bends/creases. A dandy opportunity is offered to hobbyists here.
