Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
The holder of a number of Leafs franchise records, defenceman Borje Salming was one of the first European players to make a major impact in the NHL. We have a stick used by the HOFer during the 1989-90 season, while with Detroit. A Sher-Wood PMP 7000 model, “Salming” appears stamped-on, with an illegible date code situated over the underside of the shaft. The original tape is in place over the handle and just a small portion of the blade, with red stick tape utilized along most of the middle portion of the shaft. Good use is exhibited on the lumber and it remains solid, with heavy wear to the underside of the blade. Salming would only spend the single season in Detroit, appearing in 49 games.
