Victorious along with his fellow Canadian teammates at the 1976 Canada Cup, Bob Gainey would again represent the mighty maple leaf at the 1983 World Championships held in West Germany, scoring 6 points in 10 games. This Team Canada jersey was worn by the superstar at the 1983 IIHF World Championships. Produced by Maska with a label over the collar along with “1983 WC Germany” handwritten, the jersey measures-out to roughly a size 50. Featuring a partially-embroidered dual-leaf team crest, Gainey’s “23” appears over the sleeves and verso in single twill, with matching team crests over each shoulder along with “Gainey” over the affixed nameplate in red heat-pressed vinyl letters. There is also a Maska logo over the reverse hem, with the fight strap cut away. Worn by a prominent HOF member while representing Canada, a signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany this desirable international jersey.
Dark marks are present over the front including a few stick marks near the team crest, with additional marks and burns over each lower sleeve. There is also a bit of red paint transfer over the lower reverse and left sleeve, with the originally white Maska logo over the reverse hem now red from the adjoining material’s colour bleeding in.
