Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Three scarce Parkhurst hockey card-related items here are interesting to collectors of vintage material, with a 1953-54 wax wrapper and the die-cut top of a display box, picturing Rocket Richard, both advertising that season's larger "giant" cards. The wrapper has a couple of small edge tears but presents well, while creases and evidence (reverse) of once having been glued do little to deter the coolness of the box top. An attractive team photo of the Stanley Cup champion Canadiens was a mail-in premium and has survived in pleasing condition, while collectors could also send away for the Parkies Album. Some light cover creases but one of the nicer ones we've handled, with 11 cardboard "sheets" indeed present. A crease-free, albeit off-centered Gump Worsley rookie card carries some weight, with the crease-free EX example joined by the famous (error) RCs of Al Arbour and Bill Dineen, both EX as well. An EXcellent lot for a Parkhurst shrine!
To note is that the Canadiens team photo has one small, barely noticeable crease, as well as a subtle light bend, with evidence on the back (glue residue) appearing near the left and right edges. Worth mentioning but not affecting the beauty of the infrequently-seen and captivating piece.
