Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Fresh off a World Series victory in 1929, the Philadelphia Athletics would win 102 games in 1930, advancing to their second consecutive Fall Classic against a dangerous St. Louis Cardinals club that were making their 3rd Series appearance in only 5 years. The Series would go six games, and despite the Cards leading the National League in runs scored and averaged with six runs per game during the regular season, they could manage only two runs per game in the Series allowing the Athletics to win back to back Fall Classic championships for the first time since 1910-11. We have an unscored program for the Series originating from Sportsman’s Park. At roughly 9” x 12”, a pair of redbirds are featured on the cover, with the original purchase price of 25 cents listed. Complete including the line-ups, the program remains tightly bound with small cover separations along the top and bottom of the spine. With some toning to the interior along with edge wear and light creasing also present, the publication remains in very good condition.
