This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/25/2004
Exquisite gold ring was offered by Denver Spurs coach Jean-Guy Talbot to his wife after the Spurs won the Western Hockey League championship in 1972. Talbot took over early in the season and in his 62 games behind the bench, led the Spurs to a 36-18-8 record as the team finished with a league-high 96 points. The dainty ring features an orange-ish stone with the words "Denver Spurs WHL Champions" surrounding it. One side features Mrs. Talbot's "PT" initials while the other has "72" engraved. The interior of the very thin band is stamped 10K. Size is 6 and condition is near mint. Talbot made NHL coaching history in 1977-78 when he wore a track suit behind the New York Rangers' bench during games.
