The third string goaltender for Team Canada at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games in which the Canadians took home the gold medal, Ed Belfour, coming off a season that saw him post a record of 34-19-6 with the Toronto Maple Leafs, was once again back in the fold to represent his country at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, being named to the team in May but having to withdraw in August due to a back injury. Offered here, is this set of pads along with the matching blocker and catcher used by Belfour after being named a member of Canada’s 2004 WCOH squad in practice. CCM Heaton 10 model gear decorated in Canada’s red, white and black colourway, each piece has had “Belfour” embroidered into it in black thread. Displaying just light use throughout the pads and gloves via some puck marks and dirt/dust soiling to the white nylon portions, the gear is free from obscene flaws such as rips and holes with the blocker palm remaining clean and the leg channels of both pads remaining quite clean as well. Of note, the catcher shows the most use with more puck marks than the other pieces as well as some red colour bleed to the piping in the pocket. Additionally, all the leather straps/buckles on the pads remain in excellent condition and are accounted for. A fantastic grouping from one of the best to ever play the position, an LOA signed by Belfour will accompany.
