Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Canadian Football League collectibles offered here include two complete sets of 1971 Eddie Sargent stamps affixed in albums, with both however showing considerable wear and handling. Some loose pages are to note with the one that displays better, while staining and tape repair affect the other. A third album has approximately half of the 225 stamps present/missing. Collectors may well be more allured to a complete 115-card set of 1970 O-Pee-Chee cards, housed in 9-pocket pages and displaying quite well, with few obvious creases and VG-EX and EX cards dominating. George Reed is the only creased card among the key stars that we spot, with a few “checks” on the back of the multi-creased checklist. Some three dozen separated cards from 1962 include stars Ploen, Shatto, Rote, Rigney, James and others, along with unmarked Toronto (creased) and Saskatchewan team checklists, with very little handling/wear/creasing throughout. Released the same season as his 1981 Jogo rookie card is Warren Moon’s Edmonton Eskimos Red Rooster issue. It is part of one of 20 two-card panels, with a couple of lightly dinged left corners to note, as well as a couple of light surface scuffs. Other stars who appear include Kepley, Kelly, Germany, Cutler, Wilkinson and Fennell. Completing are 1963 Nalley’s Potato Chip “coins” of Russ Jackson and Ernie Pitts (Nalley’s versions - NM), a dozen lower grade 1970 OPC duplicates and a 1983 B.C. Lions team set, with quarterbacks Joe Paopao and Roy Dewalt, kicker Lui Passaglia and receiver Mervyn Fernandez notable.
