Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Each puck originally distributed by Hockey Diversified for the 1972-74 NHL Goal Puck Program could be obtained by mail with the buyer's choice of team and possibly player. A label was affixed to each puck listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. We have a quartet of pucks from the second year of the program in 1973-74, with these particular examples used to score goals by Claude Larose, including three of the pucks from a four-goal game. Included, we have a goal puck from the Feb 26th match against Atlanta, followed by the pucks used to score goals one, two and three in a four-goal game that occurred at the Forum vs Pittsburgh, on Feb 28th. NHL Goal Puck Registration Certificates will accompany for each puck.
The Feb 26th goal vs Atlanta served as Larose’s 5th goal of the season, and second goal of a hat trick, assisted on by Robinson, with the Habs winning 6-2. The Flames logo is heavily cracked, with wear and a darkened surface to the Goal Puck Program label. There is also a circular hole along the side, mostly likely from a prior mounting. The Feb 28th pucks include examples used to score his 1st, 2nd and 3rd goals in a 4-goal game vs Pittsburgh, with the Habs taking home the victory 7-1. Each of the pucks shows wear to the Habs logo with some minor discolouration, with each of the the Goal Puck Program labels having a darkened surface. The puck used to score the second goal has a bit of paper loss to the Goal Puck Program label, while the puck used to score the third goal is missing a large portion of the label. Each of the three pucks also sports a circular hole along the side, again mostly likely from prior mountings.
