The Elmer Lach Auction - October 2006
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/24/2006
Loved at the Montreal Forum and hated by fans elsewhere around the NHL, Chris Nilan was very good at his job, intimidating the opposition and even averaging 19 goals over a three-year span in the mid-1980’s. “Knuckles” retired as Montreal’s all-time penalty minute leader and holds a special place in the hearts of Habs’ faithful. Chris’ white knit Canadiens home jersey is no longer tagged in the neck but measures out to size 50 and shows the signs of his battling style. Laundered red board paint on the front, back and sleeves is joined by a total of eight team repairs, including a two-inch job near the front hem and stitching to repair the base of the torn neckline. A few blood stains on the front and two big loop-style fight straps are other notables, along with interior pilling at the elbows. Tough guy, Canadiens and jersey collectors will all want “a piece of Nilan”!
