Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Legendary as the world’s inaugural gold medal-winning Olympic Hockey team, the Winnipeg Falcons were also exclusively comprised of members with Icelandic heritage, with the club crowned Allan Cup champions as the premier Canadian amateurs in 1920 - the sixth Winnipeg club to take home the title in just 10 years. We have a gorgeous cabinet photo of the iconic squad, with Frank Fredrickson featured, along with fellow HOFer, manager and legendary Winnipeg player, Steamer Maxwell. At 13 ½” x 17” and affixed to an 18” x 21” grey mount, the full team is pictured in their wool Falcons sweaters along with management, with the lensman Bauslaugh & Taylor listed over the bottom right. In stunning near mint condition with just a bit of surface wear to the mount, the historic photo is ready for a professional framing.
We should note some glue residue over the outside perimeter of the reverse. A 21 ½” x 24 ½” wood frame is also included (no glass), likely the original for the cabinet photo.
