Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Produced by Jacques Plante’s Fibrosport company in Magog, Quebec, we have a goal mask from the early-1970s. At approx 6 ¼” x 9” (measured across the reverse) and finished in slate grey, the three-intertwined five-clasp strapping is intact, with a Fibrosport sticker with facsimile Plante signature placed over the forehead. The original interior padding appears intact, with seven small pads affixed above the eye slots and over the forehead, with a small label covered with a twice-printed “1971” date visible. There is some wear to the surface with small areas of the grey paint worn away, with a dark mark present just above the chin and some spotting to the surface over the upper left. Despite these minor flaws, the mask displays beautifully, with no cracks or breaks.
