Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
With very little memorabilia existing for the historic club, we have a Quebec Bulldogs postcard collection of 8, featuring 5 enshrined Hall members. Stanley Cup champions in both 1912 and 1913, the Bulldogs can trace their roots back to the very earliest days of organized hockey, with the team taken and sold to Hamilton by the NHL in 1920. At just over 3 ¼” x 5 ¼”, iconic HOF superstars Paddy Moran, Joe Malone and Joe Hall are included in this especially rare collection of the 1912-13 squad, as well as fellow Hall members Rusty Crawford and Tommy Smith, along with Harry Mummery, Billy Creighton and Jack Marks. Each feature’s a wonderful cameo image with embossed “Beaudry Photo Quebec” text, along with a divided postal reverse. This is only the second substantial Bulldogs postcard collection we’ve ever had the pleasure of offering.
Each postcard displays beautifully despite somewhat lower technical grades, with just light corner wear and some minor toning. The Malone and Mummery examples have small creases, with the Smith and Moran creased over the upper right corner/side, with multiple creases over the upper right side on the Moran postcard.
