Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Having already achieved legendary status among Boston athletes at the time this highly desirable Boston Bruins captain’s jersey was worn in 1998-99, Ray Bourque led the Beantowners to the Stanley Cup playoffs in each of his first 17 NHL seasons, with the venerable superstar the club’s all-time recorder holder for goals, assists and points by a defenceman. Starter labels are affixed to the collar along with a “56-R” size swatch (one Starter label has handwritten “3”), with embroidered NHL and Starter crests over the reverse hem. Featuring the classic spoked-B team crest fully administered in tackle twill, “77” appears over the sleeves and verso in matching material, with alternate patches over each shoulder along with the Bruins 75th anniversary crest over the right breast. The team patch denoting the important garment as a “1st Set” example resides on the inside hem near a screened-on Custom Crafted logo, with a COA from the Bruins to accompany. Hailing from the Michael Wexler collection, this Boston Bruins captain’s jersey worn by a living legend should receive spirited bidding.
A few stick marks are present over the front band along with a couple small stains, with additional stains over the left sleeve. There are also a few board burns over each sleeve, with single team repairs over each elbow. We should also note that the sleeves have been custom-shortened.
