Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
The last defenceman in the 20th century to score four goals in a single contest, Paul Coffey would see five seasons of action with Pittsburgh at the height of his career, with a Stanley Cup won during his time in Pennsylvania in 1991. The 3-time Norris winner would also be inducted into the Penguins HOF in 2007. Employed during his first season with the Penguins, we have a stick used by the HOFer during the 1987-88 NHL campaign. A Sher-Wood PMP 5030 model, “Coffey 7” has been stamped-on, with “77” handwritten above (Coffey would switch from “7” to “77” while with Pittsburgh). A date code of “15 Sep” appears in red along the underside, with the lumber retaining its original white tape over the blade and black over the knob and handle. A signed LOA from Paul Coffey will accompany.
Good use is exhibited on the desirable stick, with heavier wear to the underside of the blade, with most of the tape strands loose at the base. There is additional wear to the shaft, along with some blue paint transfer near the striping accent.
