Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Original pencil signatures of Hall of Famer's Bill Durnan, Toe Blake and Maurice Richard are featured on these remarkable autographed receipts signed by 10 members of the Montreal Canadiens that played throughout the late-1930s to mid-1940s and beyond. A classic example of an enterprising autograph collector, these two vintage blank receipts from a Montreal tailor's shop were used to gather the signatures of 9 members. Cude, Durnan, Bouchard, Blake, Hefferman, McMahon, Richard and Ken Mosdell have signed on the 4 1/2" x 4" receipt taped onto the left side of a 5" x 9" cut scrapbook page with photos of early-1930s Habs stars on the reverse. The left and right edges of the sheet have their original tape, which runs through the far end of the "B" in Durnan's first name and the "M" in Richard's. Lamoureux has signed along with "Jacques Moisant" across a second receipt glued to the right side. A vintage 5" x 10" magazine photo of the 1943-44 Canadiens is included.
As mentioned, these autographs include Habs members from different seasons, with Cude’s last year with the Habs 1940-41, while Ken Mosdell first wore the Bleu Blanc Rouge in 1944-45.
