Representing Canada on the international scale for the first time as a professional, Luc Robitaille helped his nation win gold at the 1991 Canada Cup, having previously won silver with the red and white at the 1986 World Junior tournament. Canada would defeat the US in a two-game final, with Robitaille assisting on Canada’s first goal in Game 1, scored by Eric Desjardins. This photo-matched Team Canada jersey was worn by the superstar at the 1991 Canada Cup tournament. Maska Air-Knit labeling along with a size “52” fly tag grace the collar, with an embroidered CCM crest over the bottom hem. Styled with a rubberized team crest and sleeve emblems, “20” appears over the verso in tackle twill, with “Robitaille” across the nameplate in matching material along with the 1991 Canada Cup crest over the right breast. A signed LOA from Luc Robitaille will accompany this international treasure.
Exhibiting nice game-use with a few bold stick marks over the lower front, additional marks grace each sleeve, with some pilling beneath the fight strap and within the left sleeve. There is also wear to the rubberized team crest and sleeve emblems (some minor cracking), with the fight strap showing signs of repeated washings. Regarding the aforementioned photo-match, a pair of included numeric images taken after the last game of the Finals has been matched to the big black mark to the left of the "C" of "Canada" and the dark mark a few inches below, as well as to the black slash mark through a portion of the "Canada" lettering.
A portion of the sales from the Luc Robitaille personal collection will benefit the Echoes of Hope Foundation. Founded in 2007 by Stacia and Luc Robitaille, Echoes of Hope strives to awaken the spirit of hope in the lives of children, youth, and young adults in need by alleviating barriers and helping them reach their full potential.
