Although the NHL saw several changes and additions in the 1979-80 season with the arrival of four teams from the WHA and a rookie named Wayne Gretzky, one thing did not change; Marcel Dionne continued to be one of the league's top performers. Dionne followed up his 130-point 1978-79 season with a career-best 137 points which included 53 goals. The Art Ross Trophy winner was also a 1st Team All-Star and for the second straight season was voted by his peers as the league's outstanding player, receiving this personal Lester B. Pearson Award. Hailing originally from his personal collection, the heavy trophy measures approximately 7" x 6" and stands 10" high. It features the figure of a hockey player in-motion encased in lucite which sits atop an aluminum base. An enameled logo of the NHL Player's Association sits mounted (loose) next to engraving which states "1979-80 Marcel Dionne Los Angeles Kings".
The top lucite section appears to have been remounted over the base, as it currently sits slightly askew, with a few chips noticeable to the bottom white base beneath the lucite. There is also wear to the base, with the NHLPA badge slightly loose as mentioned, along with a slight opening along one of the metal sides.
