Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019

The 2003 season was a trying one for both Jacques and the Lucky Strike BAR-Honda team; they had chosen to use Bridgestone tires which turned out to be very uncompetitive as well Jacques spent most of the season in contract negotiations which ultimately lead to being replaced for the last race of the season. In this last season with the BAR Honda team Jacques managed 6 top 10 finishes with a best placing of 6th at the Italian and Brazilian GP’s. This relegated him to 16th overall in the 2003 World Championship.
This Bell K1 helmet was painted by Bell Racing Europe and is tagged “2003-06”. They also applied a small Monaco flag on the back signifying the helmet was used during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend where Jacques started 11th and finished 16th as he had engine failure on lap 63.
The helmet was then modified and used in the 2005 pre-season testing where Jacques signed on to drive for the Credit Suisse Sauber Petronas team. The helmet shows very nice wear inside and out. The helmet still has the full race radio and HANS clips attached. The drink tube has been drilled out and is taped off. As per all Jacques helmets extra eye-port foam has been added to reduce airflow into the helmet and heli-tape covers the top vents. A pair of tear-offs remain attached to the visor with the top one signed by Villeneuve. Also included is the original Bell carrying bag with “J.V. 2003-06” handwritten annotations.
This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
