Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Originally available as a complete set or in smaller packet form, the 1983 Hockey Hall of Fame postcard set numbers 240, with the artwork executed by deceased artist and noted collector Carleton McDiarmid. In this lot we have the original illustration for card #O14 Eddie Shore, fashioned on board with foam backing. At 10 ½” x 15”, the one-of-a-kind watercolour painting includes other mediums such as marker, with the realistic depiction of Shore both vibrant and aesthetically pleasing. McDiarmid has added “Mac” over Eddie’s right shoulder, and the piece has been matted to total dimensions of 16” x 20”. In gorgeous condition and awaiting a frame, there is some wear to mention with a crease that runs horizontally across Shore’s face, but this is a minor imperfection with the display value undiminished.
